It was win or you're done time at Shouldice Park today as the Division 1 and 2 semi-finals got underway on Hellard Field.
In Division 2, the Eagles and Bulldogs won their games to end the Colts and Lions seasons respectively. Eagles will play the Bulldogs next Saturday, November 4, for the Division 2 Calgary City Championship at 12:00 noon.
The Division 1 semi-finals were both low-scoring defensive affairs with the Cowboys and Wildcats each winning to remain unbeaten this season.
The Raiders played the Wildcats closely and led for most of the game, but an unfortunate injury to star QB Ronin Thompson kept them from building a bigger lead. The Wildcats managed to turn the game around on one play, when an errant snap sailed over the head of the Raiders' punter. The Wildcats would score the eventual game-winning points on the next play.
The Stampeders played a solid defensive game, but it wasn't enough to stop the Cowboys on this day. The Cowboys opened the scoring late in the first half on a 70-yard Rayan Chantoufi punt return, and would add two Calum Anderson passing touchdowns in the second half.
The Cowboys look to complete their perfect season when they take on the undefeated Wildcats next Saturday, November 4, at 2:00pm for the Division 1 Calgary City Championship.
The Division 3 Calgary City Championship, between the Chiefs and Mavericks, goes at 10:00am on Saturday, November 4.
